“DAWNINGS” is a moving tale of the early days of the Bahá’í Faith in the state of Malacca, Malaysia. Malacca was also one of the earliest places where the Bahá’í Faith was established in Malaysia. This monumental book is in a way, part of the early history of the Bahá’í Faith in Malaysia itself. Mr A. Manisegaran, Malaysia’s foremost Bahá’í historian accurately recorded among others, the sacrificial services of the early believers, the new places they opened up to the Faith, the consolidation activities they carried, several teething problems they faced in the development of the Bahá’í administrative order, the pains undertaken in preserving the integrity of the Faith during the tempestuous crisis that rocked the community, and the ultimate victory that was won by the community of the Greatest Name. Much more details have been meticulously added to preserve forever the historical development of the early days. The author has also narrated in moving terms of how several individuals were mysteriously guided into the Faith, and the unparalleled roles they played in building the community. The book has recorded the visits by prominent believers from abroad, especially the Hands of the Cause of God, and international travel teachers and pioneers who gave much encouragement and guidance in building and nurturing the nascent community- a community that would later stamp its mark in national and international services to the Faith. The book unearths interesting and inspiring anecdotes and episodes from which rich lessons could be learnt. Several very rare photographs illustrate the episodes being narrated. It is the extensive research that the author has carried out which has given authenticity to the book. Written accurately and authentically in a compelling style, this well-researched book will be valued for posterity, and is sure to inspire the current and future generations. DAWNINGS is not only be a worthy addition to one’s library, but will also prove to be a reference book for future historians and researchers to glean from.
