Fra le comunità che raccolgono i credenti della Fede bahá’í, quella indiana risulta essere oggi la più grande del mondo. Fin dai primi anni del suo sviluppo in India fu una comunità piccola, ma influente e in continua e costante crescita.Nonostante i due milioni e duecentomila credenti bahá’í presenti oggi sul suolo indiano siano una piccolissima percentuale della popolazione totale, l’estrema eterogeneità degli elementi all’interno della comunità (membri provenienti da caste intoccabili come brahmaniche, da orizzonti hindu, sikh, musulmani, zoroastriani e cristiani, abitanti dei grandi centri urbani come di sperduti villaggi rurali) fa sì che la comunità bahá’í indiana possa essere considerata uno degli esperimenti riusciti della storia, considerando che l’accostamento di gruppi umani diversi fra loro si è realizzato in un movimento mosso da una visione comune e cooperante verso un medesimo scopo. Among the communities that gather the believers of the Bahá'í Faith, the Indian one is today the largest in the world. From the earliest years of its development in India it was a small but influential community in continuous and constant growth.Although the two million and two hundred thousand Bahá'í believers present on Indian soil today are a very small percentage of the total population, the extreme heterogeneity of the elements within the community (members from untouchable castes such as Brahmanic, from Hindu, Sikh, Muslim horizons , Zoroastrians and Christians, inhabitants of large urban centers as well as remote rural villages) means that the Indian Bahá'í community can be considered one of the successful experiments in history, considering that the juxtaposition of different human groups was achieved in a movement driven by a common and cooperating vision towards the same goal.
