Later he states (p. 32) that "Earlier writers have speculated fruitlessly on reasons for the sudden demise of the Circle of Friends of the Medallion after the Joan of Arc medal appeared. This writer suggests that the extraordinary praise heaped upon 'Abdu'l-Bahá' and Bahá'í in November 1912 may have troubled influential members who were less entranced with the new world faith."
