"Coral and Pearls is a devotional album with lyrics inspired by the Baha’i Writings. - This album has been in the making for few years, with songs in four languages; English, Persian, Arabic and Spanish; composed by me and my co-worker Stephen Small who also arranged and co-produced the album with me. We finished recording the album in June 2020 in collaboration with a number of talented vocalists from across the world; Luke Slott (Ireland), Elika Mahony (China), Nasime Wattiaux (Australia). There are 9 tracks on this album and all of them except the title song were recorded in New Zealand with acoustic instruments; piano, guitar, Santour, percussion and strings as well as backing vocals and choral arrangements.
The title song recorded in Prague, is the marriage prayer revealed by Abdu'l-Baha in Persian. I composed the music for this track in 2010 for my daughter's wedding originally written for string quartet and later developed to a full ensemble piece for recording with the Czech National Symphony. This prayer, I feel, as well as being suitable for wedding ceremonies, is also a reminder to us all about the purpose of marriage throughout our lives. O God, make this marriage to bring forth coral and pearls." ~Sonbol
