This book studies the birth and development of the Bahá'í Community of the Canary Islands since its foundation, almost sixty years ago. It begins in 1953, when the first pioneers arrive, and ends in 1984, with the formation of the first Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of the Canary Islands. It all started when a group of pioneers, galvanized by the Guardian's call at the beginning of the Ten Year Plan (1953-1963), left their homes, crossed the oceans and established the Canary Islands as "the promised land", the place where their desires and where they would show the world that they had not been negligent, that they were prepared for a greater degree of sacrifice: the most intense demonstration of their loyalty to a Faith that had transformed and given meaning to their lives
