Say: "O People ...."

“Say:” looks at the writings of Bahá’u’lláh, the Prophet-Founder of the Bahá’í Faith, from the aspect of His usage of the word Say as an instructive tool. Bahá’u’lláh taught that God has created and sent a series of divine Messengers which He calls Manifestations of the Word of God. These Manifestations have been sent to humanity throughout the centuries to teach us God’s divine attributes (qualities) and His principles that facilitate society’s smooth operation and humanity’s well-being. These writings can be seen from two perspectives. The first is that God is communicating with His divine Manifestation instructing Him to Say the following phrase to His followers. The second perspective is that the Manifestation, in this case Bahá’u’lláh, is saying the following phrase to His followers. In other words, it represents a chain of communication from God to the average person.
One such example of these instructions is “Say: O people! Cleanse your hearts and your eyes, that ye may recognize your Maker in this holy and luminous attire.” Bahá’u’lláh’s intent in saying “luminous attire” is His own self. Another example is “Say: O men! This is a matchless Day. Matchless must, likewise, be the tongue that celebrateth the praise of the Desire of all nations, and matchless the deed that aspireth to be acceptable in His sight. The whole human race hath longed for this Day, that perchance it may fulfill that which well beseemeth its station, and is worthy of its destiny. Blessed is the man whom the affairs of the world have failed to deter from recognizing Him Who is the Lord of all things.
”Say, like all of Bahá’u’lláh’s writings is suitable for all people regardless of their Faith, or no Faith at all.
