Examination of the Bahá'í community of Chicago including an overview of the community's origins, leadership transition and central role in American Bahá'í development ; the "legal" aspects of the community, such as marriage and divorce, incorporation and membership ; the conomy of the community ; political and administrative aspects such as institutional conflicts with New York, conflicts with the National Assembly over the use of the temple, and covenant-breaking ; cultural background and efforts as racial unity.
