The Basis of Anti-Baha'i Attitudes in Iran

It finds that of the four categories of factors (religious, political, economic and socio-cultural) the religious factors have clearly been the most important and fundamental. The Shi`i clerics believe that if the Bahá'ís were allowed to prosper, this would threaten the basic institutions of Shi'ism as well as the livelihood of the clergy.
