Fire and Blood is the fictional story of two brothers who witness the heroic events of early Bábí history. The author has captured the spirit and drama of that eventful era. The steadfastness, the courage, and the sacrifice of the first Bábís comes to life. So too does the fierce opposition and intense hatred of the enemies of the Cause. In the early pages of the book, we join Hasan, whose brother has left everything behind to follow the Báb. Torn between family loyalty and an irresistible urge to learn more about the new religion, Hasan finally decides to join his brother at the conference at Badasht. There he finds his faith. But soon he is tested and assailed by doubts. Hasan’s struggle for certitude–his despair and his joy–will grip and captivate the reader. The book is a tribute to the steadfastness of the Bahá’ís of Iran and the crisis of faith that all believers must face.
