In the early days of Green Acre it attracted such people as W.E.B. DuBois, William Lloyd Garrison, Swami Vivekananda, Mary Hanford Ford, Julia Ward Howe, Booker T. Washington, and Edward Everett Hale. Once a resort hotel in 1890, this place eventually developed into a Baha'i school that today attracts visitors from all over the world.
