500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note The humanist and avant-garde ideas of Victor Hugo are more topical than ever. Raising sneers and jeers, the sublime poet nevertheless foresaw the establishment of the "Kingdom of God on earth" already in his time. And for this to happen, he implored the heavens so that a “more than human voice speaks to us”. What would not have been his amazement to learn that this “voice” had spoken and during his lifetime, what's more! In Persia, through the Bahá'í revelation where a son of a vizier, born in Tehran in 1817, proclaimed himself to be the Promised of all the religions of the past and the promoter of this Kingdom, under the title of Bahá'u'lláh ( the Glory of God). This is what Hugo's contemporaries called the Babí revolution, a revolution that the French were incidentally the first to make known to the world. Between this divine revelation and the work of Hugo, we sometimes have the impression of falling on “copy and paste”! Undeniably the same fight! So, Victor Hugo, brilliant spokesperson in our language for a message that “surpasses” him? In any case, the Bahá'í writings, parts of which are now translated into some eight hundred languages, would seem to be an indispensable key to clearly understanding not only the mystical side of his work and his formidable vision of the future, but also the horrors of our contemporary world. Something to answer our anxious questioning of the day!
500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
