Dopo aver partecipato alla commemorazione del centenario del trapasso di Sir 'Abbás Effendi, deceduto ad Haifa il 28 novembre 1921, con la pubblicazione del volume Il Maestro e la Parola, dedicato soprattutto ad aspetti letterari dell'opera di questo illustre personaggio, l'Associazione per gli studi bahá'í "Alessandro Bausani" presenta ora un secondo volume: Il mio nome è 'Abdu'l-Bahá. Biografia ragionata di Sir 'Abbas Effendi. Sir 'Abbás Effendi (più noto come 'Abdu'l-Bahá), nato a Teheran nel 1844 da una nobile famiglia persiana, nel 1852 fu espulso dalla sua terra natale assieme al padre, fondatore di un movimento riformatore fortemente osteggiato in Persia. Vissuto per la maggior parte della sua vita in Terra Santa, dove nel 1868 era stato esiliato dal Sultano turco assieme alla famiglia, dedicò tutta la vita alla divulgazione pratica e teorica della riforma propugnata dal padre, viaggiando in Egitto, in Europa, negli Stati Uniti e nel Canada e producendo una mole di interessanti scritti ancora poco conosciuti in Occidente. Nei suoi discorsi e nei suoi scritti egli sfidò gli assunti e il pensiero predominanti in quel periodo e cercò di far capire a tutti che l'umanità stava per entrare in una nuova era, piena di sfide e di difficoltà, come poi si poté constatare, ma nello stesso tempo ricca di opportunità per trovare una proficua e auspicabile unità nel pensiero e nelle azioni. Il mio nome è 'Abdu'l-Bahá si sviluppa in nove capitoli e quattro appendici ed espone per sommi capi la sua vita e soprattutto le sue opere, illustrando la sua visione innovatrice di modernità, di riforma istituzionale e di razionalizzazione socioculturale e la filosofia sulla quale questa visione si basa. |

After having participated in the commemoration of the centenary of the passing of Sir 'Abbás Effendi, who died in Haifa on November 28, 1921, with the publication of the volume The Master and the Word, dedicated above all to the literary aspects of the work of this illustrious character, the Association for Bahá'í studies "Alessandro Bausani" now presents a second volume: My name is 'Abdu'l-Bahá. Annotated biography of Sir 'Abbas Effendi. Sir 'Abbás Effendi (better known as' Abdu'l-Bahá), born in Tehran in 1844 from a noble Persian family, was expelled from his native land in 1852 together with his father, founder of a reform movement strongly opposed in Persia. He lived for most of his life in the Holy Land, where in 1868 he was exiled by the Turkish Sultan together with his family, he dedicated his whole life to the practical and theoretical dissemination of the reform advocated by his father, traveling in Egypt, Europe, the United States and Canada and producing a mass of interesting writings still little known in the West.
