Nur wenn unsere Weltsicht die Wirklichkeit angemessen widerspiegelt, können wir ein authentisches und sinnerfülltes Leben führen, auf das wir später zufrieden zurückblicken werden. Ein reifes Weltbild ist dabei weit mehr als die Ansammlung von Fakten und Erfahrungen. Mangelte es in der Vergangenheit vorrangig an wissenschaftlichen Einsichten, so verstellt uns heute vor allem der ungeheure Reichtum an Informationen und Meinungen den Blick auf wesentliche Erkenntnisse. Daher verwundert es nicht, dass sich die Ansichten der Menschen hinsichtlich grundlegender Lebensfragen mitunter erheblich unterscheiden. Die These dieses Buches lautet, dass es in diesem Zeitalter erstmalig möglich ist, objektiv überzeugende Antworten auf die großen philosophischen Lebensfragen zu erhalten. Allerdings müssen wir hierzu zwei ebenbürtige Erkenntnisquellen heranziehen, die in den letzten Jahrhunderten eher als Widersacher galten: Wissenschaft und Glaube. In ihrer jeweils aktualisierten Form sind sie der Schlüssel, um Wahrheit von Irrtum zu trennen und die verschiedenen weltanschaulichen Bruchstücke zu einem kohärenten Gesamtbild zusammenzufügen.
