500 ## - GENERAL NOTE
General note Abdu'l-Bahá, the eldest son of Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í religion, is designated by Him to be the "center of His covenant" and to be the interpreter of His teachings. 'Abdu'l-Bahá had shared exile, imprisonment and dungeon with his father since he was nine. Only in 1908, after fifty-six long years, was He aged and marked by privation to regain freedom. Despite illness and old age, He visited Europe and North America to convey the Bahá'í Faith to Western thought and to promote understanding and peace in the face of simmering international conflicts.
501 ## - WITH NOTE
