General note | The parallel developments in the socio-political history of Malaysia with the growth of the Faith on its shores show how closely these developments are interwoven and how this country was to play its role in the whole continent of Asia and beyond. In "Stalwarts of Faith: A pictorial account of the first two decades of the Baha'i Faith in Malaysia", Ganasa Murthi traces the inter-play of historical developments and the preparation of Malaysia during the first twenty years, as a nursery for the establishment and growth of the Baha'i Faith in this region.

This book uses pictures to tell the story of how the Faith began in Malaysia. The story itself is a simple story of how the Baha'i Faith began in Malaysia with the declaration of Yan Kee Leong in December, 1953 till the end of the Nine Year Plan in April, 1973. This book, however, takes us back to the arrival of pioneers and travel teachers in the 19th century, and especially the arrival of the Fozdars in May, 1950 in Singapore as a background, but its focus is on the Malaysians themselves as self-starters who built a community within a span of two decades. |
