This book is also a testimony to the ardor and tranquility of a world community. It is the panorama of an itinerary of peace and reconciliation of peoples. The twists and turns of the persecutions of the Bahá'ís of Iran in the early 1980s. the largest religious minority in this country. drew the attention of the international press to its existence and to that of a few million of their co-religionists distributed in all the countries of the world and from 1640 ethnic groups. This authentic account leads us through the stages through which its followers passed from 1844 to 1981: the birth of their belief and the bloody massacres of its first members in Persia, the expansion in the West and in the world of their faith. until the establishment of a model of unity of humanity. This book. although traced by the objective eye of the sociologist makes sensitive to the daily experience of these beings, their fervor, their pain, their hope and their relentlessness. The destiny of the Bahá'ís from the humblest Indian (South America) to international personalities comes alive for the world to see. The reader, drawn into these communities, governed by a collegial system and principles of love and equality, is disconcerted by their moral rectitude and the means they employ to achieve peace. The tragedy that the author experiences with the assassination of his doctor father in Tehran. Raised in Iran and France , she studied in Paris. Doctor of sociology and master of letters in ethnology from the University of Paris, she turned to research. As a child, she received a Catholic education. Became a Bahá'í at the age of fifteen , she devoted herself to various activities of the Bahá'í community in France and Switzerland, then again in France as director of the Bahá'í Public Information Office in Paris. |
